Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service

Fidelity is one of the largest private security company in the southern hemisphere. Fidelity has representation nationally with 52 branches and in excess of 1000 vehicles.

Fidelity will react in the following instances:

  • Assistance request or stolen vehicle notification.
  • Early warning in the case of unauthorised movement, device tampering or power supply interruption.
  • Your vehicle entering a well-known high risk area.

Personal Emergency Services

International SOS is a world leader in the provision of emergency assistance management services. As a Skytrax customer, you have the access to the following:

Medical Emergency Services

  • Emergency medical assistance hotline 24/7 (Active only) – Family & domestic abuse counselling, Rape counselling, Trauma counselling, Child abuse, Bereavement counselling and HIV counselling.
  • Suicide hotline and Poison hotline
  • 24/7 on call Medical Doctor
  • Emergency medical response – 24/7 road and air services, cost covered by Skytrax
  • Guaranteed hospital admission
  • Inter hospital transfer – Customers will be moved to an upgraded facility at the discretion of the medical doctor in charge of the case, cost covered by Skytrax
  • Medical repatriation – If an accident occurs outside town of residence the client will be moved to a facility closest to their hometown, cost covered by Skytrax
  • Escorted Minors – in the event of minors being stranded as a result of client’s hospitalisation, the minors will be transported under supervision to the care of a nominated person, cost covered by Skytrax
  • Compensate visits – If hospitalisation exceed a period of 5 days, and the client is outside the present residency, Skytrax will cover the costs of any economy class travel for a close relative to visit the client.

Roadside Services

  • Roadside services will be dispatched for that tyre, flat battery & keys locked in vehicle. Costs covered by Skytrax are for the call out and 1 hour labour. In the event of running out of fuel, Skytrax covers the call out cost, but the fuel is for the client’s account.
  • Tow-in-service – mechanical or electrical breakdown is covered, to the amount of R500.
  • Accident tow-in-service – in the event of an accident, Skytrax will arrange for the vehicle to be towed to the client’s insurance approved panel beater, but will not cover the costs in doing so.
  • Courtesy transport – Where a breakdown has occurred outside a radius of 100km from the client’s residence, Skytrax will cover the cost of transporting (maximum of 6) of the broken down vehicle to one nominated address.
  • Hotel accomodation – Where the vehicle breakdown occurs outside a radius of 100km. Skytrax will cover up to R500 on hotel accomodation.
  • Car rental – Should the client not wish to make use of the hotel accomodation offer, Skytrax will cover the cost of renting a vehicle to the value of R500. The rented vehicle is to be surrendered by the client on arrival at the agreed destination.
  • Storage of vehicle – If the broken down vehicle is to be stored at a place of safety, Skytrax will cover the cost up to a value of R500.

Legal Assistance

  • Telephonic legal information and advice (during office hours only)
  • Referral to legal council – Referral to legal advisor, cost for the client’s account.
  • Tax advice – Advice on current tax laws only, Referral to a tax specialist and acceptance of such services will be for the client’s account.

A Special Tracking Device

Protecting people requires a special tracking device. The majority of tracking devices in the market today are passive in nature and require activation in the event that your car is stolen. Skytrax is a special tracking device:

  • Skytrax is always active as it communicates with our operations centre every 2 -5 minutes. In the event of an emergency, the device increases the frequency with which it communicates to every 4 seconds.
  • Skytrax has Global Positioning Satellite technology, which means that we can locate your vehicle to an accuracy within 5 meters.
  • Skytrax automatically provides an early warning notification to the control centre if the vehicle moves with the ignition off, if the unit is tampered with or if the power supply to the unit is interrupted.
  • Skytrax comes with an assist button that allows you to immediately activate the Skytrax in an emergency.
  • Skytrax is Web based, so you or your family can locate your vehicle on-line any time you want at no additional cost.
  • Your assistance request can be routed to the cell phone of a friend or family member as an additional service.
  • Skytrax provides a report on your vehicle trips. A valuable tool for business mileage claims and tax returns.

How will Skytrax respond?

When you call Skytrax we will assess the situation and immediately dispatch the necessary services.

If you have pressed your assistance button, we will first try and contact you to establish what type of assistance required. In the event that you are not contactable we will immediately dispatch one of our recovery teams to the location of your vehicle.

What do I do if I press my assistance button by accident?

If you pressed your assistance button by accident it is important to notify Skytrax immediately.

False alarms draw critical resources away from real incidents which impacts on response times.

Can Skytrax help me in the event of a hijacking?

A hijacking is a very volatile and unpredictable situation that requires you to react in an unthreatening way towards the hijacker. Here are a few tips that can help save your life.

  • Obey the hijacker’s instructions at all times.
  • Keep your hands visible at all times.
  • Hijackers are aware that vehicles are equipped with tracking devices and assistance buttons. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PUSH YOUR ASSISTANCE BUTTON.
  • Your first priority is to protect your own life. Skytrax can recover your vehicle later.
  • Try and get out of the vehicle.

The best weapon against hijacking is vigilance and awareness.

  • Do a recognised and accredited anti-hijacking course.
  • Find out when and where you’re most at risk.
  • Keep up to date on the latest hijacking tactics.

What areas are covered by Skytrax?

Skytrax makes use of GSM network infrastructures within South Africa. You are covered in neighbouring countries where roaming agreements are in place. Roaming costs are for your own account. Wherever you have GSM network coverage, you are covered.

Can Skytrax guarantee the recovery of my vehicle?

With the technology and criminal intelligence applications that are used in the Skytrax product, you have the best chance of having your stolen or hijacked vehicle recovered within the first hour. Certain circumstances such as communication network coverage are beyond our control. This makes it impossible for us to guarantee the recovery of your vehicle.

Will my insurance company pay out my claim if my motor vehicle is stolen / hijacked and not recovered?

If you have a tracking device installed in your motor vehicle for the purpose of insurance cover, and the insurance company deems your tracking unit not functional at the time of the incident, you will not be covered. Skytrax is active 24hrs per day. You are able to test Skytrax via the internet at any time from any place at no cost to you. What happens when I sell my vehicle?

The Skytrax product in your vehicle is a value added extra. If you sell your vehicle, the Skytrax system can be transferred to your new vehicle. A fee for the transfer will be levied. Should the person purchasing your vehicle wish to make use of the Skytrax product, a new contract with that person will be signed.

What sort of Warranty does Skytrax offer?

If the Skytrax device is inoperative or is faulty by reason of defective components, workmanship or design within 12 months of fitment, Skytrax will replace the device free of charge. This warranty does not apply if the device has been tampered with, worked on by a non-authorised Skytrax installation agent, or if the device has been damaged in an accident. It is recommended that you insure your Skytrax device.

Who installs Skytrax products?

VESA approved auto electricians do all installations. All fitment agents are security checked and regularly undergo polygraph tests to ensure maximum security.

Where are Skytrax products installed?

Skytrax products can be fitted in numerous places in the vehicle. For security reasons, only the fitment agent is aware of where the device is installed. All devices are rendered working before a vehicle is returned to you. Pre & post installation inspections are performed to insure your satisfaction.

Are there any hidden costs in the Skytrax product offer?

All services such as communication costs, roadside assistance, medical assistance and stolen vehicle recovery are covered in the monthly instalments. All value-added services outside the standard offer will be charged at rates agreed to in the Telematics services agreement. Any false alarms will be levied at normal service rates.

Certification

VESA is an independent body that regulates the quality of security equipment installed in motor vehicles, and the processes that are followed to ensure high rates of vehicle recoveries. Skytrax carries the VESA approval for both stolen vehicle recoveries and fleet management. You can therefore make use of Skytrax with complete confidence.

Motor Manufacturers

Most local motor manufacturers do not endorse the aftermarket fitment of any type of tracking device. All motor manufacturers do however require tracking companies to be covered in the event of poor fitments resulting in warranty claims. Skytrax does not interfere with the electronics of the motor vehicle and is fitted to manufacturer’s specifications. Skytrax will therefore not affect the warranty of your motor vehicle.

Insurance Industry

Skytrax is an Insurance Industry approved tracking product. It is important to note that your insurer will only provide cover if your tracking device is working. Skytrax does daily unit health checks, so you can rest assured that your insurance cover will stay in place.
